Greece: Jan. 11, 2012. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy; sons, Gary and Steven (Lianna) Bauer; grandchildren, Erika, Jessika and Erinn; sister, Inge Lindenstadt of CA; nieces and nephews. He was a member of the German Sports Club, a Korean Conflict Veteran and a 26 gallon blood donor for the American Red Cross. Horace was a huge presence in the lives of many.

Greece: Gone to her eternal rest on Jan. 7, 2012 at age 87. Predeceased by her husband, Frank. Survived by her 3 daughters, Iva, Mary Ann and Margaret "Peg"; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Greece: Passed peacefully, January 8, 2012. Born in Bayonne, NJ. Predeceased by his parents, John & Irene Maher; brother, John Maher; sister, Kathryn Sharp. Survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Patricia (Gardner); children Robert F. Maher, James R. Maher, Kathryn (Dennis) Bretz, Anne (John) Russo; grandchildren, Dylan, Emily, Meghan, Sara & Julia; nephews, Robert Sharp, John Sharp, and several other nieces & nephews; cousin, Myles (Mary) Doyle. An Army Veteran, he retired in 1992 as a Special Education teacher from Edison Tech. after 36 years. Bob was a professional drummer for many years and a member of the Elks Club Lodge #24.

Margaret "Madge" (Brennan) O'Dwyer



Rochester: January 2, 2012 at age 96. She is predeceased by her husband, Eugene F. O'Dwyer and is survived by their niece that they raised: Sister Kieran (Josephine) Byrnes of the Poor Clares in Corby England. She is also survived by 6 children, William (Elsie) O'Dwyer of CO, Kieran (Karen) O'Dwyer of North Carolina, Margaret (Edmund) Finucane, Noeleen (John) Griffin, Josephine (Matt) Kozlowski, Sarah (Frank) Monna of Rochester, NY; grandchildren, Barbara O'Dwyer, Michael (Cathy) O'Dwyer, Edmund P. Finucane II, Thomas (Heather) Finucane, Mairead (Shawn) Mulvaney, Christine (Ryan) Birtel, Sarah Griffin, Daniel Griffin, Aaron Kozlowski, Brian Kozlowski, Jennifer Monna, Steven Monna; great-grandchildren, Dustin Kozlowski, Cara Jones & Colin O'Dwyer, Oona & Rowan Birtel, Clara and Lila Mulvaney. We would like to recognize many loving nieces, nephews and cousins all over the world, that have been so good to her. We are grateful to her dear friend, Rosetta Knapp and her devoted caregivers especially Jane Caughey.

Born and raised in Clara Kilkenney Ireland, Margaret was a nurse in the Royal Lung Hospital in London and the Cheverstown Children's Convalescent Hospital in Dublin before marrying Eugene. They lived in Graystones, Co. Wickow where Eugene served as a policeman in the Guarda Schionin. After Sr. Kieran entered the convent they immigrated to Rochester, NY, with 4 of their children. Eugene started working for Gleason Works and 2 more children were born. Margaret started working at St. Mary's Hospital in the Respiratory Therapy Department where she eventually became the Supervisor. She helped to start the national educational standards through the National Association of Respiratory Therapy. Margaret was instrumental in creating the certification degree of the field, known today as Respiratory Therapy. Both as a Supervisor and leader in her field, Margaret received national recognition for her contributions.

Eugene passed away in 1962 and Madge continued to raise the 6 children in Rochester on her own. The children were between the ages of 4 and 15 at the time of his death. She has left our midst after a long and loving life as wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, Supervisor, co-worker, volunteer and active member of Sacred Heart Church. How blessed we were to have had her in our lives.

Nancy Lee Gaffney Adams


Rochester: Passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at age 72. Nancy was born October 24, 1939 in Watertown, NY (parents, Donald A. and Elizabeth H. Gaffney). Nancy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, John B. Adams III; 3 children, Elizabeth A. (Adams) VanBlargan and husband Jason C., Michael J. Adams and wife Hope (Gabri), Douglas P. Adams and wife Amy (DeFraine); 3 grandchildren, Craig P., Keeley M. and Brendan J. VanBlargan; 1 sister, Anne G. Friday and 1 brother, Thomas D. Gaffney.

When Nancy was 6 months old the family moved to Utica, NY where Nancy attended Utica schools and completed her senior year of high school at St. Mary's in Niagara Falls, NY. Nancy attended SUNY Potsdam and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She then attended SUNY Fredonia and graduated with a Master's of Science Degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, she taught fourth grade for School #23 in Rochester, NY for 5 years and later taught at Norwood-Northfolk Schools for 2 years.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Chrissy Alessi, Lucy Atkinson and Dawn Mattice. May God bless them for all of their loving care.

Walter Zajonczkoski



Greece: December 13, 2011 after a short but courageous battle with cancer passed at home with his beloved family at his side. As a WW II veteran, he was a longtime employee of Monroe County. Predeceased by his parents, sister, Mary, brothers, Edwin and Stanley and son, Dale. Survived by his sons, Daniel, David, Douglas and Frederick; daughters, Jerolyn (Roger) Sprague and Julie (Rick) Knapp; grandchildren, Lisa, Tammy, Amy, Randy, Bobby, Mandy, Kate, Denise, Jeffrey, Jaimie, Adam, Joey and Matthew; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Laemlein. Many special thanks to Rochester General Hospital Emergency Dept. and 4500 Unit and Lifetime Care Hospice of Rochester.
