Alan P. Van Kerkhove

Rochester - December 13, 2017. Age 84. He is survived by Joan (Keilman), his loving wife of 62 years, and eight children: David (Debby), Teresa (Tim) Smith, Dennis (Kate), John (Barbara), Steven (Nancy), Karl, Paul (Amy), and Joseph (Kelly); and 20 grandchildren: Julie (Eric) Anderson, Kellie LaVeck, Michael Smith, Chelsea, Taryn, Derek, Cori, Jeffery, Katey, Camryn, Kyra, Emily, Simeon Marhatta, Christopher, Adam, Piper, Keegan, Owen, Quinn, and Grace; and 7 great grandchildren; one brother James (Myra). Predeceased by his sister, Susan. The best Euchre player, he taught the whole family to love cards and value our time together. Alan loved lasers, roller coasters, and travelling the US. He was a US Navy veteran. He was a graduate of the University of Rochester where he studied optics and math and had a long 48-year career as a physicist with Eastman Kodak.

His funeral mass will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3003 Dewey Ave, Greece on December 27th at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, Empire State Division, 200 Twin Oaks Drive, Syracuse, NY 13206, http://rochesterny.salvationarmy.org
