Audrey Clancy

June 24, 1926 — April 10, 2019

Clancy, Audrey Helen Lawson (Audrey L. Toomey)

Audrey passed away April 10, 2019 after suffering a heart attack. She was predeceased by her first husband, Harold “Harry” Toomey in 1995, second husband, Jeremiah “Jerry” Clancy in 2003, brothers Charles, Albert Jr., and Corneilus “Connie” Lawson, sisters Mary Hoey, Evelyn Hochstetler, and Ada Wells, and parents Edna Mae and Albert Lawson Sr.

She is survived by her daughter Linda Toomey Beaver (Skip), step daughter Dr. Stephanie Dollinger (Dr. Stephen), grandsons Travis Beaver (Jennifer) and Eric Dollinger, granddaughter Lucy Dollinger, great grandson Dorian, and sisters-in-law Catherine Toomey DeMallie, and June Toomey Green and many nieces and nephews.

Audrey retired from Eastman Kodak Company in 1982 after a decorated 32 year career, where she started out working in film inspection, and worked her way up to Personnel Supervisor of Buildings 65 & 69. She was a parishioner and volunteer at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, and a former member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of VFW Hilton-Parma Memorial Post 6105.

Audrey was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 24, 1926. She lived in many locations around the country growing up including Indiana, Illinois, and Texas as her father was an iron worker who was commissioned to work on many large government projects around the country, including bridge design and construction.

Audrey met Harold Toomey on a bus while he was in the Army and stationed in the St. Louis area. They dated and later Audrey relocated to Rochester, NY, and in 1946 they were married at Holy Cross Church and started a family. Audrey ran into Jerry Clancy at church in 1998 and they soon became good friends, fell in love, and were married in April 1999. Jerry and Harry had happened to both be 1940 alumni of Aquinas Institute and were best friends.

A special thank you to all the staff of Crimson Ridge Gardens Memory Care Community in Greece for their years of care. Audrey would tell Linda weekly, “I love it here and everyone is so nice.”
