Barbara C. Thompson

Barbara C. Thompson, entered into eternal rest at age 84, on January 17, 2021. She was later joined by her husband Donald L. Thompson, of 57 years, on February 22, 2021.

She is survived by her loving daughter Patricia L. Bennet; brother Richard Chase; nieces Terry Chase, and Deborah Mertz; Sister in Law Cheryl Brown; cousins Robert Shoenheit; Susan Berry (Schoenheit); and many great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Dorothy Chase (Schoenheit), and Kenneth Chase; her sister Elizabeth Wiener (Chase), and Son in Law Richard K. Bennet.

Barbara attended Madison High School, and graduated from RBI, after earning her secretarial degree in 1954.

She was especially captivated by genealogy, spending hours enquiring into her families’ ancestry, while also connecting with relatives as a result of her research. Barbara enjoyed hosting parties for family and friends, and was a talented cook known for her fantastic fudge and Lobster Newburg.

Barbara grew up on Lake Ontario, spending summers at her parents’ cottage on Edgemere Drive. She had a passion for boating which she shared with her husband Donald. They traveled yearly by boat to Sodus Point, Fairhaven, and Ontario Place in Toronto Canada, and were also members of the Manitou Yacht Club.

She will be remembered for her sense of humor, infectious laugh, and engaging stories.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 2, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. followed afterward by a Memorial Service from 6:00-6:30 p.m. at Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Rd, Rochester NY, 14612.
