Bertha Hemdal

BERTHA B. “BARNEY” HEMDAL, 92, passed away on January 30, 2020 in Virginia. Bertha is preceded in death by her loving husband Robert and son Allan. She is survived by her daughter Janet (Neil) Stapelman, sons Gary (Heather) Hemdal and Erik (Deborah) Hemdal, brother Leonard (Donna) Barnosky, 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and dear friends.



Bertha was born in Barnesboro, PA to Joseph Sr. and Mary Barnosky. After graduating high school, she moved to Washington, DC to work for the FBI. She married and later moved to Greece, NY. A graduate of MCC, Bertha worked at Eastman Kodak Company until retirement. She was a former parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy Church and then at Holy Cross. She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan who also enjoyed volunteering, going to the YMCA and watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.



Friends may call Thursday 4-7 at Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Road. Funeral Mass, 10:30 AM Friday at Holy Cross Church. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
