Died peacefully on June 12, 2017 at 89 years of age. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet; children Peter (Joanne) Smith, Deborah (John) Yaworsky, Gregory (Su) Smith, Patricia Smith-Martin, David (Susan) Smith, Brian (Terri) Smith, Kathryn (Charles) Smith-Hetterich, Donna (Robert) Pelletier; 16 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his son-in-law Gary Martin.
Don was a graduate of the University of Rochester, earning his Ph.D. in mathematics in 1957. He retired from Eastman Kodak in 1986, after 34 years of service, as a Project Manager in Research and Engineering, Government Systems Division. He played an integral role in many of the company’s classified government contracts, including the spy satellite program and the lunar orbiter.
Don was a talented woodworker. He also enjoyed gardening, golf, and all things mathematical. He was a devoted husband and father who was proud of his large and growing family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
