Harold J. Redmond

Greece - Harold J. Redmond, 88, died Nov. 25, 2018 peacefully in his sleep after a prolonged battle with a variety of health issues. He is predeceased by his wife of 57 years M. Celine Redmond, his parents Joseph H. and M. Eunice, sisters Theresa Messmer and Mary Thorpe, brothers Joseph and Raphael, brothers-in-law Robert Thorpe and Ned Hancock, and sisters-in-law Leona Hancock, Betty Redmond, Agnes Redmond and Kay Redmond. Surviving family includes sons Jim (Judi), Brian (Maureen), and Gregg (Joni); grandchildren Katie (Sean) Roche, Cara (Brett) Neely, Daniel (Rebecca) Redmond, Erin Redmond, and A. J. Stuver; great-grandchild Maren Roche; brother John Redmond of Tempe, AZ, sisters-in-law Helen Farrell, Pam Redmond, and Lois Redmond, brother-in-law Edward Messmer; many nieces and nephews.

Faith, service and family were the guiding lights in Harold's life. A 1949 graduate of Aquinas Institute, Harold was a founding member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, a fourth-degree knight in the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society, a member of American Legion Greece Post 468 and a parishioner at St. Charles Borromeo Church.

Harold was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Bronze Star for his U.S. Army service during the Korean War. Harold spent his 53-year career as a financial planner selling for Mutual of Omaha, where he was a national leader. The family is deeply grateful for the care Harold received through his doctors, Unity Hospital, and the Edna Tina Wilson Living Center.

Friends may call Wednesday 4-7 p.m. at Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Road (between English and Latta). Funeral Mass, 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Charles Borromeo Church. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Soup Kitchen or Honor Flight-Rochester.
