Luis R. Rivera

Luis Ricardo Rivera passed away November 11, 2020 at the age of 63. He is predeceased by his father, Antonio Rivera and stepmother Wilma Rivera. He is survived by his loving wife Kelley Rivera and his mother Carmen Bas. Luis is lovingly remembered by his two loving children, Luis Ricardo Rivera Jr. (Tiffany) and Deb Rivera Eliscar (Truman), his grandchildren Abbygale, Steven, Isabelle, Owen, Ethan, Shawn, Nikita and Skylar. Luis has numerous siblings; Jose Rivera (Maritza), Ricardo Rivera (Ruth), Juan Torres (Elsa), Linda Rivera, John Torres (Maria), Victor Rivera, Carmen Rayes (Isidor), Juanita Rivera, Edwin Torres, Antonia Beaty (Kenny) and Tracy Torres (Lee). He is loved by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.


Luis was born October 13, 1957 in Rochester, New York. He graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1976 and went on to earn a BA in Urban Planning and Analysis from Buffalo State College. He worked for over 30 years as a Fire Inspector for New York State and retired in September of 2020.


More than anything Luis had a deep and unwavering love for family and friends. He loved gardening and taking yearly fishing expeditions with his brother. Luis also enjoyed long drives in the country with his wife.


Visitation will be held at Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Road on Sunday, November 15, 2020 between the hours of 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Church service will be offered at St. Michael’s Church on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 11 am. Burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery.


Following the burial, we will celebrate Luis’ life at his Son’s house at 48 Winston Drive, Rochester, New York, 14626
