Robert A "Max" McCarthy

Charlotte - Passed away on December 7, 2019 at the age of 91. Predeceased by his beloved children Kathleen and Todd and wife of 63 years, Betty. In addition his parents Roy and Irene and siblings Tom and Patricia Brule. He is survived by his children Terry, Tim (Carole), Karen (Andy) Gallina and Kim (Scott) Bierworth, daughter-in-law Heidi; grandchildren Amy (Ken), Jaime, Dareal, Jesse, Lauren, Colin, Rob, Alannah (Dave), Evan, Brett, Carly and Trevor; great grandchildren Danielle, Jaidyn and Mary Elizabeth. Patriarch to many nieces and nephews.

Max led a full and robust life touching the hearts of many. A Charlotte resident for 60 years he was often referred to as the "Mayor of Charlotte", always with an open door on Beach Avenue. Max was a proud member of the Aquinas class of '45. He was a legendary musician as a member of the Dixieland Ramblers, even producing an album. McCarthy Chemicals was his life's work the past 55 years which he continued to run through July 2019. Max was a lifetime member of the Rochester Yacht Club. He and Betty spent 35 years wintering in Dunedin, Florida with many dear friends. Yet if you asked him his greatest accomplishment he would tell you it was the beauty of his family. Nothing brought him greater joy than a gathering on the Bierworth deck or a holiday meal around the Gallina table.

A celebration of Max's life will be held on Tuesday, December 10th from 4-7 at Farrell-Ryan 777 Long Pond Road. A Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at Holy Cross Church at 11 AM. Interment Holy Sepulchre.
