Peacefully August 31, 2022. Predeceased by his parents Raymond and Elizabeth Statt and his sisters Nancy Heffernan and Sr. Rosemary Statt R.S.C.J. Survived by his sisters Betsy (James) Romson and Ellen Miller; nephew Patrick Heffernan; nieces Julie (Stephen) Cosgrove, Mary Eileen (David) Bryson, M.Elizabeth Heffernan. Born in Rochester, Fr. Statt grew up in St. Augustine Parish. He attended Nazareth Hall, Aquinas Institute, St. Andrew's and St. Bernard's Seminary. Fr. Statt was ordained May 31, 1958 by Bishop James E. Kearney at Sacred Heart Cathedral. He was associate pastor at St. Mary, Canandaigua (1958-61), and Corpus Christi, Rochester (1961-64). He also served as chaplain of the Newman Community at SUNY Geneseo (1964-76), and assisted at St. Mary Parish in Geneseo. He served as rector of Becket Hall, the diocesan college preparatory seminary program (1976-81), then in 1981 became pastor of Our Mother of Sorrows Parish in Greece, where he remained until retiring in 2000. He served as a trustee/board member for St. Bernard's Institute, Camp Stella Maris, the Nazareth Schools and Monroe County Catholic Schools. In his retirement, he assisted at St. Charles Borromeo Parish and at other locations as needed.

Father will lie in state at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3003 Dewey Ave., Tuesday from 4-7 PM with a Vigil Service at 7 PM celebrated by Bishop Salvatore Matano. On Wednesday, friends may call 9-10 AM concluding with the Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Bishop Salvatore Matano at 10 AM. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. in Lieu of flowers contributions can be amde to Newman Catholic Community, 11 Franklin Street, Geneseo, NY 14454
