Passed away peacefully with her family at her side on October 15, 2026 at the age of 87.
Kitty was predeceased by her parents, Lewis and Magdalene Kelly; sisters, Irene Keyser and Anne Lloyd; and beloved grandson, Sean M. Dougherty. She is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Tony; loving children, Mary Dougherty, Michael Schrader, Kelly (Andy) Taggerty, Sue (Todd) Newman, and James (Jamie Messner) Schrader; cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Tara (Aaron), Brenna, Michaela (Wade), Alayna, and Jessica (Chase); and great-grandchildren, Gannon, Broden, Paisley, and Hayes. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Archie, and granddog, Gracie James.
A proud 1957 graduate of Nazareth Academy, Kitty remained close with her classmates throughout the years, especially treasuring their luncheons together and the friendships that stood the test of time. She was a longtime volunteer at Aquinas Institute and a devoted, active parishioner of Sacred Heart Cathedral, where her faith and sense of community were an important part of her life.
In her younger years, Kitty enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball and bowling in the Sacred Heart Women’s League, activities that brought her both joy and lasting friendships. As the years went on, she found pleasure in quieter pastimes, especially reading a good book, working on puzzles, and sharing laughter and conversation with dear friends. Above all, Kitty treasured her family and the time spent with those she loved, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her warmth, kindness, and devotion to the people in her life will leave a lasting impression on all who knew her.
