Cynthia A. Gremke

Cindy passed away at age 69 after a 22 year struggle with Parkinson’s Disease/ Dystonia.

She was predeceased by her loving parents Charles E. Gremke and Jane C. Gremke (Krolak). Survived by her brother Charles W. Gremke and sister-in-law Jane F. Gremke; her sister Linda Gremke and brother-in-law Charles Bruehl; nephews Charles Jonathan Gremke, Daniel Gremke (Caitrin Dwyer), Douglas Bruehl ( Isabell Ventouris); nieces Jennifer Petronis (Ryan), Samantha Bruehl, Melissa Bruehl (Zach Bearse). She is also survived by grand-nephews Bryce Petronis, Colton Petronis and by grand-nieces Makenna Petronis and Felicity June Gremke.

Cindy was a 1973 graduate of Kenmore West and a 1977 graduate of Brockport State University, earning a BS in physical education. Cindy later earned a Master of Education with a focus on Exercise Physiology from Cleveland State University. Cindy worked at the Cleveland VA Medical Center for 32 years, where she provided therapeutic exercise programs for cardiac and orthopedic rehabilitation.

Cindy enjoyed camping with family and friends, skiing, sailing, fishing, traveling and white water rafting. Cindy was a lifelong friend to fellow Girl Scouts, classmates from Kenmore West and college, as well as co-workers from the Cleveland VA. Cindy’s adventurous streak was paralleled by a willingness to help anyone in need. She was a true friend to many. Cindy loved the color purple and often wore purple scarves, shirts, dresses and pants. This love of purple started in the early 1960’s, when “ the Purple People Eater “ song was a popular song on the radio. Cindy had a purple people eater stuffed animal.

There was a spark inside Cindy that enlivened her and will never go out. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral preparations are being co-ordinated by Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home. There will be no visitation hours; a Mass will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Greece, NY, at 9:30 AM on June 27, 2025. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to research at The University of Rochester Medical Center Dept. of Neurology or to the Michael J Fox Foundation.
