Listen to Obituary

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Cynthia K. Hervey, a beautiful woman whose love knew no boundaries and whose joy touched everyone around her. Cynthia was born on March 1, 1957, in Philipsburg, PA and peacefully transitioned from this life on June 26, 2026. She lived with an unmatched fierceness, determination, and an unwavering love for those fortunate enough to know her.

Cynthia's love for Christmas, making memories and spending time with her family gave her strength and resilience throughout her life. She brought a rare kind of hope and kindness into this world; one that comes along only once in a lifetime. She will always be remembered for her famous cookie baking, incredible thoughtfulness and her ability to celebrate each and every day as if it were a holiday.

With a remarkable work ethic, Cynthia began her career at Kodak where she served as an IT Director making a global impact and while building lifelong friendships along the way. She later concluded her distinguished career at the University at Rochester as an Assistant IT Director where she fostered the growth of her teams and brought a sense of dedication and knowledge to all those around her. Everywhere she went, she had a unique gift for turning co-workers into family and friends.

She was a dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, coworker and her most cherished of all grandmother aka CiCi. Becoming a grandmother was a role she was truly meant to play. She loved her granddaughter, Hailey, more than anything else in this world. She loved to travel with her, crochet, build Legos and be her biggest fan at her field hockey games.

Cynthia inspires us to remember that no matter what we face in life, there is always room for kindness, courage, love and more importantly, hope. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Cynthia is preceded by her parents, Barbara and Richard Smiley. She is survived by her husband Timothy Hervey, daughter Hannah Hervey (Paul Reinckens), son Hannibal Hervey (Megan Hervey), granddaughter Hailey Hervey, sister Karon Milazzo (Chuck Milazzo) and nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Cynthia's wishes, no formal services will be held. She would want us to remember to love one another deeply, cherish the moments we share, and never forget that even the smallest spark of hope can go a long way.
