She moved to Rochester in 1969 where she spent the rest of her life with her predeceased beloved husband Michael Forkell.
She is remembered by her only daughter, Tawnya Forkell (Michael Crupi), (Moses J. Tyler) and her only cherished grandson Logan J. Tyler, (including furry family member Keiron) for being a loving mother, gramma and bestfriend.
Darla is survived by her dear brother Ronald Angelotti, and her loving nieces, Ramona (Robbi) Polling, Amanda (Trevor) York, and sister in law Gail Angelotti. Including her great nieces and nephews.
Darla will also be fondly missed by her sisters in law Sharon (Dennis) Katsuleres, niece Kimberly, and nephews Eric and Jeremy. Along with sister in law Charmaine (Ron) Reiter, and furry family members, Merlin, Spazz and Ziggy.
As a very young wife and mother they built a surviving lifestyle from hard work in gardening which lead to a hobby of growing the biggest and best vegetables and fruit. She planted herself at Pfieffer Glass, a division of Fisher Scientific, where her work ethics and outstanding professionalism lead her to becoming a Team Leader in the company. Within those years unexpectedly she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and while working everyday throughout the terrible disease she fought and beat it. Darla’s shy welcoming smile and kindness with co-workers bloomed into friendships that became lifetime friends.
Fun, but never forgotten memories will always be the (2) prize winning pumpkins in which one of them won 8th place in World Weigh off in Buffalo, NY. Her dedication to work was always priority, but Darla called in sick for the first time that day unknowing that a picture had been taken of her and the pumpkin and made the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle Newspaper, Darla went into work the next day where her friends/co-workers clapped and laughed with smiles of pride that she finally took a day and played hookie.
Darla’s warmth, truthfulness, and devotion as a wife, a mother, a gramma and cherished true friend will always be remembered.
Reflecting Darla’s lifelong affection for animals, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Humane Society.
A celebration of life will take place on Sunday August 10, 2025. Please contact family members for details on time and place.
