Died peacefully on January 27, 2025 at the age of 97. Predeceased by her husband (Richard), son (Daniel), and son-in-law Michael Pero. Survived by her sister Frances Powarzynski , sons Timothy, Christopher (Lynda), and Terence (Michelle), daughters Eileen Volkmar (James), Mary O’Grady-Pero, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews including Susan Fredericks.
Dorothy was an avid golfer and member of Brook-Lea Country Club for over 70 years. She worked in the defense industry throughout WWII contributing to the vital war effort and always lent a helping hand to her community, volunteering to deliver meals for the local Meals-On-Wheels program and transcribing reading material for the visually impaired. Dorothy was a great friend to all and always made sure everyone was happy and had a good time. Her fondness for socializing and bringing people together was always evident whether it was a night out with friends or a Sunday afternoon with family. She provided the love and nurture of a caring mother, allowing her children to flourish while setting an example of sound parenting: a legacy she passed on to future generations.
All are invited to celebrate Dorothy’s life at Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Rd., Rochester, NY 14612, Saturday, March 1st, 2:30 to 3:00pm with a service at 3:00pm.
In her memory, donations may be made to Honor Flight.
