Douglas J. McAfee

Douglas J. McAfee went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 2, 2026.

He was predeceased by his father, George J. McAfee; his paternal grandmother, Rita J. Forbes; his maternal grandfather, Guilio Pennetta and his maternal grandmother, Annamarie Pennetta.

Doug is survived by his loving mother, Flora L. McAfee/Clements; his siblings, Lisa (Mike Mohamed) McAfee-Michael, Katie McAfee, Michael (Stephanie) McAfee, Brian (Nadine) McAfee, John McAfee, and Allison McAfee-Michel; many cherished nieces and nephews; and his beloved fur child, Asilah.

Doug was a courageous and adventurous spirit whose love of travel took him around the world. Although he visited and lived in many places, Morocco held a special place in his heart and became his second home. Drawn to its people, Doug taught himself Arabic and eventually became fluent in the language. Throughout his travels, Doug formed lasting friendships with people from countless cultures and backgrounds. To him, differences were never barriers—they were opportunities to learn, connect, and build meaningful relationships. He welcomed everyone with kindness, respect, and an open heart, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Doug also built a distinguished career in the hospitality industry, where he was respected as a gifted leader, mentor, and innovator. His commitment to excellence, exceptional leadership, and genuine care for both guests and colleagues earned him the admiration of those who worked alongside him. Whether leading in the workplace or serving friends and family, Doug's servant heart, integrity, and passion for people were evident in everything he did.

Doug loved the Lord. His faith had become the foundation of his life when he accepted Christ into his heart on May 24, 2020. He reflected God's love through acts of kindness, compassion, generosity, and service to others. He loved deeply, cherishing every moment spent with those closest to him. Doug's legacy is one of faith, courageous leadership, love, service and adventurous living—a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him until they meet again in the presence of the Lord.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Doug's life during visitation on Sunday, August 9, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Farrell Ryan Funeral & Cremation Services, 777 Long Pond Road, Rochester, NY 14612.

A celebration of Doug’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 11, at 7:00 p.m. at First Bible Baptist Church, 990 Manitou Road, Hilton, NY 14468.

Interment will be held privately.
