Gareth K. Greene

April 30, 1929 — May 30, 2022

On May 30, 2022, Gareth passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at the age of 93. He was born in Adams Center, NY, to Gerald and Delberta Greene. He was predeceased by his son Daniel (LuAnn) Greene. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn J. Greene; children Jeffrey (Cheryl) Greene and Kimberly Greene; daughter-in-law LuAnn Greene: step-children David Scott (Maritza) Shuman and Betsey (Warren) Gawve; brothers Arden, Charles (Jane) and Rodney (Susan) Greene. Also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gareth served his country in the US Marine Corps. during the Korean conflict. He earned his Bachelor of Music from Salem College and his Master of Music from Ithaca College. He taught instrumental music in Binghamton and Greece, then worked as Vice Principal at Arcadia High School and Hoover Drive Middle School until his retirement in 1991. Thereafter he continued to teach private woodwind lessons and directed church choirs. Gareth played clarinet in the Greece Concert Band and the Greece Community Orchestra.

At Gareth’s wishes, there will be no prior calling hours. A memorial service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church on July 29th at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Hope Church (sharethehope.org) or to the Greece Performing Arts Society (greeceperformingarts.org).
