Guy Chapman

October 9, 1965 — May 25, 2021

On Tuesday, May 25, 2021, Guy R. Chapman, loving son, brother and uncle passed away at the age of 55. He is pre-deceased by his mother Carmen, brother Michael, and best friend Tommy O’Brien. He is survived by his father, siblings & nephews: Ray (Gwen Nelson) Chapman, Keith Chapman, Carmen (Moe) Alaimo, James (Nancy Marinelli) Chapman, Laura (Tommy Probst) Chapman, Michael Briganti and Austin Briganti.

Guy was born on October 9th, 1965 to Carmen and Raymond Chapman in Rochester, NY. He attended Hilton Schools, Cardinal Mooney H.S. and earned his master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from D’Youville College in 1999.

Prior to being an Occupational Therapist (OT), Guy was an award-winning bartender & para legal, but being an OT was his passion. As an OT, Guy’s greatest work experience was working with the children at Stepping Stones Learning Center. His sense of humor was endearing. Guy loved his students and they all loved ‘Mr. Guy’. Guy had a special gift, he always came up with creative ways to connect with the kids, whether it was a walk outside observing nature or games he concocted. He was relating to their world, deepening their understanding of themselves, and the children loved him for it.

Guy was an avid hunter. Paired with his personally trained dog, Tanner, there wasn’t a duck within their reach that wasn’t fair game. Guy’s fortress of solitude was the family cottage in Henderson Harbor, NY. It was there where Guy lived out his well-deserved summers-off from his passion of teaching. While fishing was Guy’s passion, he had an even greater desire to share his experiences with family and friends. Many of his experiences included our close family friends the Wahl’s and his friend & Cousin Gary Chapman. Stories of the “one that got away” were certainly never in short order when sitting by the nightly campfire. Guy lived up to his nickname “Guy Smiley”. Never lacking on smiles or compliments, Guy was someone who, even if you only met once, you didn’t forget.
