Harold V. Files

Harold V. Files, of Rochester, NY, passed away on August 15, 2026. He was surrounded by his loving family. Harold will join many family and friends in heaven, including his beloved wife Josephine and his daughter Deborah. Harold is survived by his children Donna (Dan) Scheg, Janice (Scott) Langdon, Doug (Brenda) Files, and Julie (Dan) Goodridge, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Harold was a faithful servant of God who spent his life in service to others. He generously shared his time, talents, and skills through countless mission and community service projects. His woodworking workshop became a place of service, where he made parts for the PET (Personal Energy Transportation) project and built desks for children in the Rochester City School District.

Harold participated in numerous mission trips, including helping to build a school in Haiti and assembling an emergency assistance trailer for use in New York City following 9/11. In 1996, he received a Man of the Year award from American Baptist Men in recognition of a lifetime of Christian service.

Harold was an active and devoted member of his beloved Greece Baptist Church, where his faith and commitment to serving others were evident throughout his life. He also loved Camp Vick and treasured the time he spent there surrounded by nature, family, friends, and the beauty of God’s creation.

Harold’s wish was that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Greece Baptist Church memorial fund. A memorial service to celebrate Harold’s life will be held on September 5th, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Greece Baptist Church (1230 Long Pond Road, Rochester, NY 14626) The family will greet guests after the service.
