Listen to Obituary

James E. Finzer (Jimmy, Jim, Bubba) passed away on August 13, 2026 at the age of 83.

Our Bubba is resting now after a life devoted to the most important things to him: loving, protecting and providing for his family.

Predeceased by his brother-in-law, Glenn Parry (Karen), he is survived by his wife of 62 years, and his whole world, Shirley (Costanza) Finzer; his daughter, Kim (Frank) Bellavia and son, Kory (Keri) Finzer; his adored grandchildren, Kerrilynn (Austin) Dwyer, Jake Bellavia, Ella Finzer and Sydney Finzer; his spitfire of a great-granddaughter, Harper Josephine Dwyer; and his beloved South Carolina family, sister Karen Parry and niece Katy Parry (Robert Massagee).

Bubba enjoyed his family most. Everything he did was to ensure Shirley, Kim, Kory, as well as their spouses Frank and Keri − who he loved as his own − had a good life. He worked hard from an early age, and he “delivered,” first for Ridge Lumber Company, then UPS for 20 years, then Rockcastle Florist in retirement. Until his passing, he never stopped delivering, always fixing something, getting something done, and working hard.

Growing up in Irondequoit, Jim and Shirley met when they were young teens, and were together for the next six decades. They built a home they lived in for all that time, and raised their family there. Bubba could fix anything. Self-taught on most things, he kept the mechanics of the house and yard running. His hands showed the many years of that hard work, but could always softly ease the pain of one of us when we needed it.

As he slowed down in later years, he went from playing with the kids and grandkids, to enjoying every minute of the activities from the bleachers or from his favorite recliner. He was most content with his family around him, and at the end, with his beloved Gaga within his sight.

Bubba’s family celebrated his life in a private ceremony.
