Janet Winter

Passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 14, 2025, after a yearlong battle with metastatic breast cancer. She will be remembered for her kind and generous heart, her sense of humor, her resilience, and, most of all, her unwavering love for family and friends. She is predeceased by her parents Edward Ellis and Frances South. Survived by her husband Robert; children Tracy Winter, Brian (Kaori) Winter; her grandpuppy Zoe; brother Joe (Arminda) Ellis South; nieces and nephews Kim Guy, Scott and Carrie South.

A dedicated member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Janet served as financial secretary for 48 years. She was also the co-owner of Accent Training and taught at Roberts Wesleyan University, SUNY Brockport, and Monroe Community College. Her legacy of love, strength, and service lives on in all who were blessed to know her.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 25th from 3:00–5:00 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4115 Dewey Ave, Rochester, NY 14616. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m., with a reception afterward.

To honor her memory, the family kindly asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
