Jean M. Saunders

Passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, at the remarkable age of 96.

Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph, and her parents, Charles and Estelle.

She is survived by her children, Judith (Roland) Saunders Tiso, James (Gail) Saunders, John Saunders, and Jennifer (Michael) Saunders LaRocco; grandchildren, Catherine (Michael) Inzirillo, Alexandra (Per) Tiso Argentine, Jamie (Justin) Teufel, and Lindsey Saunders; great-grandchildren, Lena, Evelyn, and Amara; step-brother, Tim (Joanne) Wesolek; as well as many other relatives and friends who will remember her fondly.

Jean was a wonderfully creative and artistic woman who found great joy in working with her hands. Whether she was painting, arranging flowers, staining woodwork, or taking on another craft, she had a natural talent for creating beautiful things and took great pride in her work. She was also an avid reader and continued to enjoy books throughout her life, right up until her final days.

Above all, Jean’s greatest joy was her family and the home she created for them. She treasured her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and devoted much of her life to caring for those she loved. Her home was a reflection of who she was—warm, welcoming, lovingly cared for, and centered around family. The memories she created and the love she gave so freely will remain with her family for generations to come.

Jean’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday August 29th at 10 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3003 Dewey Avenue, Rochester, NY 14616. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jean’s memory to Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center or the American Cancer Society.
