John Mendola passed away peacefully at the age of 80, leaving behind a loving family who will deeply miss his presence in their lives. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Sarah Mendola and several aunts and uncles.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Rosa; his children, Sarah (Bob) Kelly, Charles Mendola, Roselle (Patrick) Massare, and Carrie (Harry) Mendola; and his cherished grandchildren, Nicole (Brad), Jessica, John, Will, Kyle, and Holly. He is also survived by his siblings, Joe (Mary) Mendola, Gerry (Joe) Resch, and Richard Mendola, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loved ones.
John proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War. Above all, his greatest legacy can be found in the family he leaves behind and in the many memories they shared throughout his life. As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, he held an important place in the lives of those closest to him. His memory will continue to live on through the stories, traditions, and moments his family will carry with them for years to come.
Visitation will be held from 4–7 PM on Wednesday, October 7th at Farrell-Ryan Funeral & Cremation Services. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 8th at Holy Cross Church. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s memory may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the VA National Center for PTSD.
