It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Tarantino, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated pillar of the community, who passed away peacefully at the age of 89. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 14, 1936 in Jamaica Queens, New York. Joseph dedicated his life to his family and the betterment of his community. He was a familiar face to many, having spent more than 50 years raising money for non-profits and feeding the members of the Rochester area. He loved golf and cards, traveling and was a successful entrepreneur/baker. His quiet acts of kindness and unwavering commitment left a lasting impact on countless lives.
He will be remembered for his dedicated loyalty to friends, warm smile, generous spirit, and most importantly his wisdom. He taught those around him the value of hard work, compassion, and the importance of a life well-lived.
Above all, Joseph was devoted to his family. He is predeceased by his parents Carmine and Josephine Tarantino; sister Virginia Baldasarre and brother Richard Tarantino. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sandra Tarantino; daughters, Gina (Robert) Seiler, Christa (Santiago) Korten, and Liana (Marc) Huyghe; seven cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Korten, Mia Huyghe, Francesca Huyghe, Sonnessa Tarantino, Josephine Korten, Cecilia Huyghe, and Rafaela Korten; sister-in-law, Rose Underwood Tarantino; niece and nephews, Richard, Richard, Gary Michael, Richard, Rosemarie and James. His legacy of love, integrity, and warmth will live on through them.
Calling hours will be held 3-6 PM Friday, December 19th at Farrell-Ryan Funeral & Cremation Services, 777 Long Pond Road. A funeral mass to celebrate Joseph Tarantino’s remarkable life will be held at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park on Saturday December 20th at 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
