Listen to Obituary

Leonid Mager, 72, passed away on August 17, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family who loved him beyond measure.

Leo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle whose family was always at the center of his life. Nothing meant more to him than the people he loved, and he treasured the time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, mother, sister, niece, and extended family. Whether through the big moments in life or the quiet, everyday ones, Leo understood that being together was what mattered most.

Leo had a remarkable love of life and an incredibly strong will to live. He faced life's challenges with tremendous courage, strength, and determination. Even during the most difficult times, he continued to fight bravely and refused to give up. His perseverance was a reflection not only of his strength, but also of just how deeply he loved his family and how much he treasured every moment he was given with them.

At heart, Leo was a simple man who found happiness in the things that brought him peace. He loved being outdoors, especially spending time fishing and working in his garden. These were places where he could slow down, enjoy the beauty of nature, and appreciate life's simple pleasures. He didn't need much to be happy—being surrounded by the people and things he loved was enough.

Those who knew Leo will remember his strength, his determination, his appreciation for life, and, above all, the unconditional love he had for his family. The lessons he taught through the way he lived, the memories he created, and the love he shared will remain with his family forever.

Leo will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Tatyana; children, Svetlana (Andrey) and Elena (Mikhail); grandchildren, Viktoriya (fiancé Peter) and Maksim; mother, Irina; sister, Elena (Alexander); niece, Veronica (Nicholas); and all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Panikhida will be held at 6 PM on Thursday, August 20th at Protection of the Mother of God Church, 100 Stanford Dr., Rochester, NY 14610.

Leo's Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10 AM on Friday, August 21st at Protection of the Mother of God Church, with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
