Lynn A. Ognissanti passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, at the age of 64, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a devoted mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She is survived by her beloved children, Patrick (Casey) Ognissanti, Tarra (Christopher) DeFelice, and Michael Ognissanti; her cherished grandchildren, Gavin, Calum, Liam, and Harper, who lovingly knew her as “Granny”; her parents, Joseph and Margaret McGonagle; her brother, Joseph (Janice) McGonagle; and her nieces, Courtney, Taylor, and McKayla. She will also be deeply missed by her aunts, Maureen and Rena, cousins, neighbors, and many dear friends.
She was greeted in heaven by her grandparents, several aunts and uncles, and her best friend, Kathy, who held a special place in her heart.
Born on November 15, 1960, in Glasgow, Scotland, Lynn moved to Rochester with her family at the age of 12. She attended St. John’s for middle school and graduated from Olympia High School with the Class of 1979.
Lynn dedicated nearly 30 years of her career to Eastman Kodak Company and, most recently, was employed at Kore Wireless.
Lynn embraced life with warmth, humor, and generosity. She was deeply rooted in her faith and resilient in the face of challenges. She treasured time spent with family and friends and had a remarkable gift for remembering people and nurturing lasting friendships. She loved music, especially Rod Stewart, celebrating holidays, and honoring her heritage by ringing in the Scottish New Year every December 31st at 7 PM. She also loved traveling and found peace and joy on the beach by the ocean. Above all, her greatest joy was being “Granny” to her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 4–7 PM at Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 11 AM, followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lynn’s memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
