Margaret McGonagle

Margaret McGonagle passed away peacefully on February 9th at the age of 89.

She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Joseph McGonagle, her son Joseph (Janice) McGonagle, her grandchildren: Patrick (Casey) Ognissanti, Courtney McGonagle, Tarra (Christopher) DeFelice, Michael Ognissanti, Taylor McGonagle (Robert Byrnes), and McKayla McGonagle (Robbie Bullock), her great grandchildren Ciaran, Remi, Gavin, Harper, Calum and Liam, her sister Rena Kelly, and sister in law Maureen Marshall along with many nieces and nephews.

She was welcomed to heaven by her daughter, Lynn Ognissanti, her parents, Annie and John, and her four sisters, Mary, Betty, Anna and Joan, along with many other family members.

Margaret was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland. She loved growing up as one of six sisters. At the age of 15 she met her future husband at a bus stop. They got married and had two children. In her 30s she moved to Rochester, NY with her husband and children. Maragret worked many years for Grecian Gardens in Greece, NY. For anyone that knew her, it was clear that she loved her family and put them first always.

Those that knew Margaret would describe her as kind and patient, she loved her faith, spending time with family, and talking with her friends. Margaret was the best storyteller, she remembered such vivid details, she especially loved sharing about growing up in Scotland.

No prior calling hours, her funeral mass will be held 11:00am on Saturday February 14th at St. Marks Church in Greece, NY.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
