Michael Allen Dent, age 60, passed away in his Rochester, NY home on December 13, 2023. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden death.
Mike was born on June 15, 1963. Mike grew up in Shavertown, PA, and was a 1981 graduate of Dallas High School.
Mike proudly served in the United States Army as a Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory Specialist from 1983 - 1987 stationed in Ft Dix, Ft Devens, Lowry AFB, Ft Polk, Ft Greely, and Aberdeen Proving Grounds.
Following his military service, Mike utilized his training to join Caltronix, Inc., where he spent his entire career. This job brought him to Rochester, NY, where he built a life filled with love and laughter.
Mike had a wonderful way of making us smile with his stories. Whether he was recounting his experiences in the freezing Alaskan winters, his amusing moments with Uncle Richard Bednarek while stationed in Louisiana, or simply sharing his daily misadventures, his sense of humor always brightened our days.
But, without a doubt, the true lights of his life were his two sons Alex and Steven. From attending more baseball games than you could count while the boys were growing up, to making special trips to watch the Yankees play, to coaching their baseball team as part of Coach Tony's crew, he was always there to cheer for them and alongside them. The trio enjoyed a weekend breakfast tradition together, savoring not only food but also the moments of their lives.
Throughout his life, Mike had a deep passion for motorcycles. In his youth, he shared unforgettable rides with his dad, fondly recalling the crazy times they had while riding in the woods. More recently, he found joy in riding his beloved Harley, whether going on rides with his friends or riding to nowhere enjoying the day.
Mike's legacy lives on through his sons, Alex and Steven, with whom he shared countless treasured memories. He was married to Linda for 24 years, and their connection was an integral part of his life. In addition to his immediate family, he was also dearly supported by a wide network of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, who contributed to the richness of his life. His family also includes his brother, John (Jen) Dent, sister Andrea (Scott) Michalek, mother Patricia Dent, and his nieces Victoria Dent and Abigail and Addison Michalek. Preceding him in death was his father, Jack Dent. Mike's life was enriched by the companionship of cherished friends who played a significant role in his journey.
