Michael "Cotton Toe" Scrivens 1/16/67 - 10/13/23. Survived by his beloved wife Genevieve, cherished son Nathan, parents Mary and Larry, siblings Matthew (Stephanie), Dorothy Wind (Warren), Benjamin (Maria), mother-in-law Caroline Effinger (pre-deceased father-in-law John), and brother/sister-in-laws, Bonnie Stewart (Scott), John, Peggy Kelley (Jerry), Glen, Brian (April), Suzanne Loucks; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mike was a graduate of Edison Tech, and served in the Air Force after high school for three years. A United States Postal Service mailman for 22 years, Mike spent several years in Greece and more recently the Brighton district. Mike treasured his postal brothers and sisters as well as his customers who he enjoyed seeing every day.
Mike was a musician at heart who shared his love of performing live music for over three decades, spanning multiple genres, in around the local area. In recent years, Mike found his passion for the blues, playing original and standards for his growing fan base.
Mike always had a smile to share; he lit up the room wherever he went and was a friend to everyone he met. He loved travel, always excited to go on an adventure with Gennie and Nathan.
Mike's greatest joy was in spending time with his family, sharing stories and laughing. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Mike's funeral service will be held on October 20th at 5pm, at Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Honor Flight of Rochester.
His celebration of life party will be held at Newport Yacht Club, 694 Seneca Rd, Rochester, NY 14622 from 12pm-5pm on Sunday, October 29th.
