Michael F. Lissow

Passed away on August 30, 2026, at the age of 78.

Michael is predeceased by his father, Major Charles E. Lissow; mother, Betty Loos Lissow; brother, Charles P. Lissow; and granddaughter, Stella French.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jean Hall Lissow; daughters, Mary (Patrick) French and Kathryn (David) Boydston; grandchildren, Bryson Jacobs, Ainsley French, Mallory French, Darby French, and Piper French; as well as extended family and many friends.

Mike lived an active life filled with many interests, accomplishments, and a strong commitment to his community. He had a lifelong enthusiasm for automobiles and auto rallying and was a member of the Triumph Touring Club of Rochester and the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). For many years, he also worked with the Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally, a professional rally event. One of his favorite automotive experiences was attending the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School with his prized Corvette.

Throughout his career, Mike spent 24 years with Sun Microsystems, where he received numerous awards and recognitions for his professional accomplishments. Of all the honors he received, however, the one he treasured most was being recognized by his own team as “Best Manager.”

Mike also generously gave his time and talents to organizations that served others. He was a board member of the San Jose YMCA and the San Jose Diabetes Society and served as both a board member and coach for SG Sports, an organization supporting at-risk youth.

After retiring to Arizona, Mike remained as active as ever. He participated in a bowling club, Museum Explorers, a shooting club, and a car club, where he organized a Sunday fun rally. He and Jean were also involved with the Community Service League and together chaired three auction-style fundraisers benefiting charitable causes.

Mike truly enjoyed staying busy, being involved, and sharing his interests with others. Whether through cars, sports, community service, or time spent with family and friends, he approached life with enthusiasm and remained active for as long as his health allowed.

Calling hours will be held Monday September 14th 4-7 PM at Farrell-Ryan Funeral & Cremation Services. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday September 15th 10:30 at Holy Cross Church. Inurnment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Michael’s memory to Wreaths Across America or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
