Raymond I. Dunn passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026, at the remarkable age of 100. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Irene; parents, Edward and Harriet Dunn; son, Daniel Dunn; and brothers, Rev. Gerald E. Dunn, Robert Dunn, and Thomas Dunn.
He is survived by his brother, Jim (Joan) Dunn; by his loving son, Timothy (Julie Engel) Dunn; daughter-in-law, Nancy Dunn; grandchildren, Kimberly (Christian) Redder, Jason (Laura) Dunn, and Courtney (Ryan) Shultz; step-grandchildren, Tom (René) Barnes, Chris (Dana) Barnes, and Melissa (Steve) Kasprzak; great-grandchildren, Seth, Noah, Jack, Kiersten, Julia, Grayson, and Ivey; and step-great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Caden, Cameron, Tyler, Stella and many nieces and nephews.
Raymond lived a remarkable century defined by devotion to his family, service to his country, and a genuine appreciation for life's simple pleasures. He graduated early from Edison Technical High School before answering the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. After successfully completing four days of rigorous testing, he qualified for aviation training. He had a lifelong sense of pride in having served his country.
Following his military service, Raymond married the love of his life, Irene DeClerck. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and faith, raising their two sons and creating countless cherished memories. Raymond was a devoted husband,father, grandfather and great grandfather, whose greatest happiness came from the time he spent with those he loved.
Throughout his life, Raymond enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing on Honeoye and Keuka Lakes. A devoted Roman Catholic, his faith remained an important part of his life, and he maintained strong ties to his church communities over the years.
Raymond enjoyed a long career with Rochester Gas & Electric, where he was remembered not only for his dedication to his work but also for his involvement in organizing children's Christmas parties. His generosity and commitment to others extended well beyond his professional life. He was active in veterans' organizations, serving as a past president of a veterans' club and participating in poppy programs honoring those who served. He also served as president of the boards of directors for Dunn Towers I and II.
For the final five years of his life, Raymond resided at The Village at Unity, where he continued to embrace the activities and friendships that brought him joy. He especially enjoyed growing fresh flowers, playing bingo, and participating in the veterans' group. Even in his later years, Raymond remained engaged in his community and took pleasure in the companionship of those around him.
Having lived through a century of extraordinary change, Raymond leaves behind a legacy of service, faith, dedication, and love. Above all, he will be remembered for his devotion to his family and the many lives he touched throughout his 100 remarkable years.
Family and friends are invited to gather for calling hours on Monday, October 19, from 4:00–6:00 PM at Farrell-Ryan Funeral & Cremation Services. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 20, 9:30 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3003 Dewey Avenue. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Raymond's memory to Veterans Outreach of Monroe County.
