Ronald Fess, 83, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, neighbor, and friend. Ron will be missed by all who knew him for his kindness, quiet demeanor, and work ethic.
Born in Rochester on December 6, 1941. He called Rochester his home his entire life. He married his childhood sweetheart and together, they lovingly raised four children. Their marriage was an inspiration for all who knew them.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia Fess. His daughters Tammy Mock (Jeff) and Debbie Deuschle (Scott) and sons Todd Fess (Suzanne) and Chris Fess (Chrissy). His beloved grandchildren Ashley Ware (Zachary), Courtney Vargo (Daniel), Hayley Salopek (Trevor), Alexa Ratka (Chris), Austin Deuschle, Ryan Canham, Emily Fess, Brendan Fess, and Sidney Fess. His four great grandchildren Lily Vargo, Demy Vargo, Carter Ratka, and Liam Ware. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Janas. Ronald was predeceased by his father, Lewis Fess, his mother, Alice Fess and brother-in-law, Richard Janas.
Ron’s career stands as a testament to his unwavering work ethic, reliability and integrity. He began as a proud member of UA Local 13, Plumbers and Pipe-fitters, for 14 years. He contributed his skills to projects at area malls, hospitals, and the renowned Niagara Power Plant. Ron later dedicated 28 years to General Motors, where his hardwork and reliability made a lasting impact.
A man of faith, Ron attended weekly mass and was involved in his neighborhood association, willing to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors.
Ron’s greatest joy was found behind the wheel. An enthusiastic car lover, he was known for scouting new vehicles across town and taking scenic drives in his cherished convertible. He especially looked forward to his winters spent in Florida, where he could enjoy the open road and warm sunshine, embracing life with quiet adventure.
Ron was a man of few words but endless kindness. His legacy lives on in the loving family he nurtured, the friendships he treasured, and the countless small acts of kindness.
Calling hours, August 25 from 4:00- 7:00 at Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home. His funeral mass will be celebrated on August 26 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Greece, NY at 9:00 am.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society.
