Thomas (Tom) Doody was born on May 17th, 1957 in Warsaw, New York and a resident of Rochester, New York where he died on August 8, 2026. Tom was a proud father, step father, son, brother, and friend. He loved sports of all kinds, and had particular dedication to the Buffalo Bills, New York Yankees, and Rochester Red Wings. He loved bluegrass music. He loved his parents dearly, and grieved them when they passed.
Tom was an enthusiastic alumni of the University of North Carolina, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Economics.
In his younger years, Tom was an accomplished athlete. He later built a successful and respected career in banking. He took great pride in the people he loved, especially his daughter, Nicole, and stepson, Ryan. They shared many happy memories together as a family, memories that remain a meaningful part of his story. Although his relationship with Susan ended many years ago, the family they shared together remained an important part of his life and story.
In the years that followed, Tom struggled with a disease that is often difficult to talk about and too often left unnamed in obituaries. Addiction and mental illness can slowly change a person's life, their relationships, and their sense of themselves, while leaving those who love them searching for answers. These struggles that ultimately contributed to his death. We choose to name them because they were part of his story, but they were not the whole of it. He was a father, a stepfather, a son, a brother, a friend, an athlete, and a man who had known success, love, and joy. His life deserves to be remembered in its entirety.
He leaves behind his daughter Nicole, his stepson Ryan, and many friends who will continue to carry his memory with them. He will be remembered not only for how his life ended, but for all that came before it.
We find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, free from the struggles that followed him for so long, and reunited with his brother, William (Bill), Aunt Betty, and parents James & Jean, who preceded him in death. May he rest peacefully in their embrace, and may those who loved him find comfort in the memories and love he leaves behind.
