William “Bill” F. McCarthy passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the age of 65. He was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Dorothy McCarthy, and his great-nephew, Joey.
Bill is survived by his brother, Robert McCarthy; his sister, Mary McCarthy; his nieces, Kathleen (Dave), Brittany (Jonathan) and Shannon; aunt, Joanne Eldridge; his great-niece, Gia; his great-nephews, Dom, Jaxon, and Nick; his special friends, Nickolas Johnson, Kathryn Villano and Kristina; many cousins and dear friends; and his beloved dog, Khloe.
Born on September 24, 1961, in Rochester, Bill was someone whose genuine kindness left a lasting impression on the people fortunate enough to know him. He was caring, thoughtful, and loving by nature, with a warmth that made others feel welcomed and valued. Bill cared deeply about the people in his life and was a loyal friend and a devoted family member. His gentle spirit, compassion for others, and sincere concern for those around him were simply part of who he was.
Bill also had a remarkable love and knowledge of music. He especially enjoyed The Beatles, Elvis Presley, and the unforgettable music of the 1970s and 1980s. His knowledge was so extensive that if you gave him a month and year, chances were Bill could tell you exactly which song was number one at the time. Music brought him tremendous joy and became one of the many things those closest to him will always associate with his memory.
More than anything, Bill will be remembered as a truly good and caring person. His kindness was genuine, his friendships were meaningful, and the love he gave to his family and friends was returned many times over. Those who knew Bill will miss his warm presence, his gentle heart, and the simple way he made the lives of those around him a little better just by being part of them.
